My girlfriend and I had the BBC on in the kitchen when the Ed Sheeran story came through, and my first reaction was that it's a family show.

You don't tune into the Simpsons for a lecture. You tune in to watch Homer strangle Bart.

If an opener wants a stadium of parents and ten-year-olds to sit through a political speech, I could see why the man whose name is on the ticket might say no.

That was my gut, and it is only a gut. I have no side to sell you on the war, and nothing here is about who is right. I'm not a promoter. I produce and mix records in Brooklyn, so what follows is the view from the room where the records get made.

From that room, the first thing to understand is this is a tour story. For everyone I've worked with who is not a household name, the tour is the whole business.
